FACES OF COACH: Meet Izzy!

How did you hear about FAT?

I found FAT online! I was looking for a fitness community that values its people just as much as movement, and stumbled upon FAT, I’ve never looked back since!

Describe yourself in 3 words :) ?

Friendly, Easy-Going, Driven

What is your health and fitness background?

I was always very active growing up playing most sports and was a pretty big swimmer! As I got older I ended up focusing on Netball and Basketball right through high school, and now you’ll most likely find me running or at FAT!

What are your top 3 pieces of advice to build a healthy routine?

  1. Set Consistent Goals: Define what success looks like for you, and set milestones along the way to stay motivated, and throw in treats or rewards after you hit certain goals!
  2. Prioritise Recovery: It’s just as important as the workout itself! Give your body the rest it needs to grow stronger.
  3. Keep It Fun: Try different exercises, attend group classes, or find a fitness buddy – when you enjoy what you do, it’s easier to stick with it!

Do you have any 2024 fitness/lifestyle goals?

My first goal was to PB in the half marathon which I did at the Hawkes Bay course in May! Next thing on the fitness bucket list is complete my first Hyrox, which is in Feb 25’!

What is your favourite and worst exercise?

I love exercises that get my heart rate up, like running and burpees. They’re intense but rewarding! My least favourite exercise would probably be anything involving shoulders – they fatigue quickly and never seem to get any easier!

Which advice would you give to a FAT first timer?

Don’t be nervous! The FAT community is incredibly welcoming, and it’s a fantastic environment to enjoy movement while connecting with others. You’ll feel right at home in no time.

As 2024 comes to a close, what would you like to learn or focus on in 2025?

I have always been really passionate about psychology and how the brain works, so I would love to go back to study and do a Graduate Diploma in Psychology!
